My question is concerning “distribution rights” for a mesh generated in FaceGen that is then further modified in MODO (or any other modeling program to further change the mesh).
I am planning to use FaceGen as a starting point to model characters for several systems. There are limitations in marketing figures for DAZ or Reallusion characters. My understanding is that your FaceGen allows the meshes to be “freely” used/distributed. However if a user created a mesh from a “copyrighted photograph” of a celebrity and used its texture, then there may be a case of copyright infringement if one was using such photos without permission. I will be using my own photos and other photos (sold as stock or distributable scans made for this purpose from artist resource websites) plus I will be altering an initial FaceGen mesh as well as not using the original photos to generate head textures. I was just wanting to be sure about your company’s position on the mesh distribution. I see there are distribution rights for some of the more expensive software (I assume these versions generate the figures directly for use).
