Here's one way to start httpd in a screen from a script that might run upon 
boot:

screen -d -m ./f -shell=tty -e='USE: httpd [ 8888 httpd ] in-thread'

The "-d -m" options tell screen to immediately detach.

Whenever you want to interact with the REPL do 'screen -r'.
