I hope this is only a temporary fix. :) Please either put timeval  
back in unix/windows io, or find another place for it. timeval is not  
part of the ANSI C library, and it shouldn't be in libc in the first  
place.

I don't like channels.sniffer.bsd either. It's the wrong level of  
abstraction. io.sniffer should expose a cross-platform interface  
which channels.sniffer then uses.
