There's no way to "opt out", but in fact what's going to happen is that 
the stat stuff will get a FreeBSD backend. We recently set up *BSD build 
machines to augment our build farm. This means that now I have 24x7 
access to all the OSes Factor supports: Windows, Linux, Mac Intel/PPC, 
*BSD, Solaris. So you can expect much better support for the 
"non-mainstream" OSes soon.

Incidentally, the build farm will start releasing daily binaries as soon 
as a few things are fixed; at that point either Eduardo or I will blog 
about the build setup and announce the brave new world of continuous 
integration for the Factor project.
