I'm probably stating the obvious here, but before attempting to write 
factor code I'd recommend modifying your editor to set up a hotkey for 
running 'help' and 'see' so that you can quickly decipher unfamiliar code.

Factor has a big enough learning curve without requiring you to break 
flow every time you want to see what the stack effect of a word is. If 
it's any consolation I found factor really heavy going and unproductive 
in the early weeks, but it does get easier.
