I'm new but thought I would chime in on this.
What I like about using the ! syntax (eg, reverse!) is its already a
convention that people are familiar. Ruby uses this for destructive
functions, and so does Scheme. When writing Lisp code I find myself
following the convention there as well, and wishing I could use it in
other languages. For me established convention is clearer than
creating a new one.
Anyway, just some thoughts from a new guy who is climbing the Factor
learning curve (and having fun doing it!)
