Howdy folks. If you noticed the iokit and windows.dinput vocabs that
got pulled in a few weeks ago, well, they actually work now! And on
top of that, there's a platform-independent game-input library for
interfacing with keyboards, joysticks, gamepads, and other game
controllers. To see it in action, git pull git://repo.or.cz/factor/
jcg.git, plug in your gamepads, and:

"joystick-demo" run

A window should pop up for every game controller it finds. Marvel as
the dots move in concert with the controllers. There's also a "key-
caps" demo that demonstrates the raw keyboard interface. See "game-
input" help for all the fun details.

The game-input library currently only does Windows and Leopard. (Sorry
Tiger fans, but that pre-Leopard HID shit is bananas.) I don't know
what the hip way to read joysticks is in the Unix world these days, so
Linux etc. support is left as an exercise for the reader (at least
till I do some more research).
