Yeah, Emacs is a complex beast with some clunky corners. I use it as a
lisp-machine replacement because the only workable alternatives,
smalltalk environments, don't usually play as nice with the external
unix world and/or i dislike the UI.

Perhaps Factor will eventually grow into such an all-encompassing
environment?
