I presume you mean that hitting the Alt-Tab combination gets grabbed by windows before it gets as far as emacs. From the emacs manual: ,---- | If your window manager defines M-<TAB> to switch windows, you can type | <ESC> <TAB> or C-M-i instead. However, most window managers let you | customize these shortcuts, so you can change any that interfere with | the way you use Emacs. `---- (Yeah, Windows isn't included in "most window managers", to my knowledge) Rupert
