Cookbook versus J-Labs

I have had a better look at the cookbook and help system, and I must
say that in a lot of ways it looks better than the Labs (tutorials) of
J. The layout of the pages of the cookbook looks better, with the
$examples and the references. There is a lot of information on every
page.

I believe the cookbook is great, and should remain as it is.
Labs/tutorials would be an extra.

What makes the J-Labs different?

First: There are lot of them. Every subject can have many pages, and
they are using many examples. The cookbook might have one page for one
or more subjects. In J there are maybe a number of labs for every page
in the cookbook.

Second: The labs feel more like tutorials. You are lead through the
subject matter more slowly, one page at a time.

Third: Everything is in one window. There are often comments after an example.

Fourth: The labs are very accessable through the "Studio" menu, as are
the demos.

Fifth: There is an authoring tool to make creating labs easy.

Is it possible to make a cookbook feel more like a tutorial/lab?

Maybe it is possible to do this. Just use more pages with less
information per page, but more examples. Maybe it is just a matter of
the way the information is presented.

How important is it to have everything in one window?

Unclear. The $examples might contain comments so they are copied to
the listener window.

Best regards,
Leon Konings
