Yep, that seems to have done it--blew away the old dir, did a re-clone from
git (didn't bother with the "clean build" branch step), and it looks like
it's working. Thanks.

Are there any docs on how the VM is implemented? I haven't found any yet,
but I could be looking in the wrong places....
