It looks like fail2ban still crashes on FreeBSD. I built a brand new server and
used default config for freebsd. Added some rules into my own filter and it was
running fine. Then it just stops.

I check the log file -

Not sure why it's seeing lots of these invalid IP addresses. Nothing in my logs
to show these. I restart it and it fails because of the sock file's still in
place -

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/fail2ban restart
ERROR Unable to contact server. Is it running?
2016-02-25 09:43:35,155 fail2ban.server [83693]: INFO Starting

daemon mode
ERROR Could not start server. Maybe an old socket file is still present. Try
to remove /var/run/fail2ban/fail2ban.sock. If you used fail2ban-client to start
the server, adding the -x option will do it

It's a real shame this doesn't work with FreeBSD. It always used to. I've tried
changing loads of things and it just doesn't work very well.

I'm using the latest everything. Are there any plans to develop this on FreeBSD
so it works properly?

Thanks,
Rich
