Is there some easy method for another program or service to add a ban?
I'm thinking it would be useful to create plugins for services like sendmail, dovecot (IMAP), vsftpd, etc. to request bans based on their own determination that they're under attack. For example, a service that sees a volley of failed login attempts against known weak appliance usernames could immediately ban the attacker before the fail2ban service sees the attempt in the logs.
