When I was on TTC in 1974 we had a French guy came who was wearing a white robe with a hood. Maharishi met him in the corridor one day and asked where his coat and tie was, to which the Frenchman replied that he was a monk. M said, "Oh you are a monk, that's fine, Jai Guru Dev etc." Someone nearby then piped up, "He's not a monk, he's getting married this year!" Maharishi gave him the full treatment - said how no-one should wear white who wasn't pure etc. Needless to say he wasn't seen again.
My friend told me the story with some relish as the Frenchman had somehow commandeered his room at the start of the course!
