I agree with your last point, Paul. The awakened value of consciousness is the same in MMY as it was in Guru Dev. But the "point" value is quite different. The tradition is one of awakening Brahman, not a particular personality, technique, yagya, etc.. I'm sure if we knew each master in the holy tradition we'd be amazed at the differences in their personalities.
