RJ, Relating to the prayer thread about your
drug addiction, I may have some insight. You post here about your bad trips. I know
there are all kinds of views about their causes and effects, but I’d like
to point out a little less Eastern effect. Did you know that bad trips
can cause PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/Syndrome [Shell Shock])? The
degree of hallucinogen-induced PTSD can be severe (worse than war-induced), and
it is usually under-addressed. No one is more of a proponent of entheogens than
I, but I also understand what can go wrong. From the sound of it, you had a
severe/acute stress over-load (forcing you to detach from the experience –
a very bad sign that often accompanies extremely horrific/painful experiences) and
may be chasing the stress overload with other drugs. That overload, and the
nature of stress, seems to involve imbalances in the dopamine and serotonin receptor
systems. Addiction is probably related to short-term counter-productive attempts
to reset those endogenous neuro-chems. Obviously TM is not a sufficient re-setter
for many (most?). The best re-setter may be the hallucinogens – ironically
the way out may involve the same chems that got you in. The difference is the
set and setting, and probably dosage. In other words, don’t now go out
and trip and think it’s the answer. Street tripping that ignores set and
setting is very unwise, but a more educated session (counseled/guided/well-planned
[in a country where it’s legal]) can work wonders and have long-lasting therapeutic

awake focus on that one thing. Since all things are in everything therefore all
things can be known by one thing. Some blowback might come from the focus on
time, but that's not samyama nor is it a sutra. Moreover, one will get
all sidhis from any one sidhi because they are all latencies of PC, so for
example in the case of inner light, one would already have all discriminating
wisdom and enlightenment as well, or have you forgotten your abcs? The
final vibhuti pada sutras are obviously about the goal of kaivalya, turiya, or
what I prefer to humanize by calling awakening. Even demons in hell can
awaken to CC. I know because it was my acid trips both good and bad that
woke me up when I was a kid, to CC. The bad experiences were so horrific
that my mind stepped back and witnessed them. That's why you have this
poking, prodding pashu here peering over the fence now and shouting silly
things. On the other hand, those bad trips were a strong motivator to try to
better karma and not be evil. Simply as strong a motivator as anything. What's that have to do with sutras? Because it's all
about life. Even Guru Dev couldn't escape the karma of the world and nor can
