************* It was not "folly" on MMY's part, it was just a way of dealing with children who insisted, wrongly as it turns out, that they were qualified to be Brahmacharis. This reminds me of the anecdote in Nancy Cooke de Herrera's book "Beyond Gurus": a guy walking around MMY's ashram one day in India came upon MMY and Tat Wala Baba sitting holding hands on the path. The guy asked if he could join them in meditation and also hold hands -- TWB and MMY demurred, but the guy insisted, so they said OK...next thing the guy knew, it was dark and TWB and MMY were long gone -- the guy had immediately lost consciousness when he held hands with them.
