It seems to me that the main point that MMY is making about CC is
that the awareness of Being is no longer overshadowed by any
experience that is related to identification as the body. No
emotion, no matter how strong fills the screen of the mind to such
an extent that Self-consciousness is blotted out. No anger, no fear,
no ecstatic state overshadows awareness of Being. No physical state
of the nervous system such as; dreaming, sleeping or waking
distracts the mind from the awareness of Self. I would think that it
is not one of these criteria but all of these that constitute the
state of being ESTABLISHED in Cosmic Consciousness. The steady
intellect established in CC, being as a perfectly still candle flame
that shows not the slightest flicker in even the most torrential
storm.

Rather than say that the steady intellect not losing Self-
consciousness during deep sleep is a precursor to CC, it seems that
a more accurate statement would be that this condition is met in the
intellect that is fully established in Cosmic Consciousness.
