A snake is real until its not -- only a rope. If a "they" is an
operant construct for the constructee, then the opperant construct can
be acknowledged, like the easter bunny is for kids. Else no chocolate
eggs for everyone. 

If the operant construct of the constructee wants acknowledgement,
several options occur: i) acknowlegement, ii) ignoring (aka
ignorance),  iii) indifference, or iv) truth -- "there  is no
construct or constructee". 

Are you pretending there is only one option?
