Interesting, on looking at Vidyaranya's work on CC and UC he gives the
following prophecy:

"With the arrival of the age of Kali, O Maitreya, everyone will claim
that he is in Brahman without translating it into action; these such
people are in the pursuit of lust and gluttony."

No one ever really talks about what the real characteristics of being
established in Brahman are. Briefly these people are on the very edge
of physical manifestation. Guru Dev was one such being. IMO he was
sticking around to attain the celestial body, which is beyond Brahman
Consciousness. Such people are really quite remarkable. Eventually, if
they reach real videhamukti--their body simply vanishes. This has
happened in historical times to adepts of the Sri-Vidya lineage and in
the past, sometimes to dozens of adepts at once. Before they reach that
stage there are other remarkable things that can happen like not
casting a shadow and other spontaneous manifestations of unity.

Until I begin hearing of these things, I'll not believe any of these
people are in Unity.
