******** If I remember correctly (always an iffy proposition) from previous research: Tibet's climate and geography make vegetarianism more or less impossible. Buddhists are prohibited from killing, but not from eating dead flesh. There is a special butcher caste to deal with this. Corrections and further elaborations are welcomed.
