People totally immersed in material thinking do not value what does 
not cost them, something which MMY found out early in the movement 
(saying -- paraphrasing -- "I gave them a pearl, but they regarded it 
as worthless, and threw it away"), which is why he began a reasonable 
fee for instruction so that people would not start casually, but 
consider, because they had to cough up some money that could 
otherwise be spent on stuff, whether expanding their awareness was 
something they wanted to do.

Of course, the current fee for instruction is too high, but free, or 
pocket change, is not the right price...the price has to be just 
enough to eliminate casual acceptance of instruction.
