Here's a theory (based on no evidence at all) about why MMY dumped the UK: He had his jyotishis look at forecasts for various countries, and they predicted something bad happening soon in the UK. So MMY announced the end of TMO support for the UK, and if/when the bad thing happens, he'll say "There! See what happens when my pundits don't do yagyas for you!". Donations to the pundit projects will then flood in like never before. You don't have to believe in jyotish to accept this theory, you just have to believe that MMY believes in it.
