>From Maharishi's Bhagavad-Gita, Chapter 4 Verse 34, Commentary,

"'Service' means action in accordance with the desire of the master. A
sense of service has little to do with the nature of the work itself,
but is primarily concerned with the fulfillment of the master's
desire; if the master is pleased service is successful. If he is
pleased by the accomplishment of the work, then the service is done
and the work has accomplished its purpose. If, in the middle of the
work, the master wants it undone, then the success of the service will
demand obedience. This art of service covers those states of
submission and alertness of intellect which are necessary for
enlightenment...

...By adjusting itself to the likes and dislikes of the enlightened
cosmic mind of the master, the ignorant mind of the seeker gradually
gains that same status..."
