His letter doesn't contain the story that I remember parts of, regarding money the Kaplans put in a trust fund, with Movement people as co-signatories, for the purpose of paying land taxes. After the Movement pulled out the money, as I recall, Earl was asked to cough up yet more money to pay the taxes that year. Whatever exactly this situation was, Earl didn't cover it in his letter presumably because of the litigation going on at the time he wrote it.
