Sent to me on the side by a friend/lurker: #1414 Einar used to come into our Perfect Health Products office over in the high-rises and chit-chat. He had a pronounced holier than thou attitude which was a carry over to me from the six month course we were on together (see story #1415). One day we were talking about various cleansing diets and Einar told us all about an apple juice fast that he went on and highly recommended, in which you go on apple juice only for a few days and then on the fourth day you eat a large quantity of whip cream and somehow this forces the gall-bladder to expel gallstones. The very next night, we had a meeting in the Learning Center, led by Mario Orsatti, a meeting in which the "air was cleared" about a variety of issues. With this dietary program Einar had just described fresh in my mind, somewhere during the course of the evening, Einar puts his hand up, gets called on and says "Please tell the Governors not to go on any strange diets or cleansing programs." My PHP partner and I just looked at each other and cracked up.
#1415 So there we are in St. Moritz for six months. Spectacular beauty all around us, kerplunked right down in the middle of the Alps with one of the world's great vacation spots a 10 minute walk down the hill. Somewhere along the way someone, perhaps Einar himself, hears that the people on the course before us were told by Maharishi to make their rooms into caves and had the windows closed and their curtains drawn. Einar, and many others, embraced this, and though it was springtime-summer, the air was spectacularly clear and crisp and the view out the windows was heavenly, they closed their windows, closed the blinds, and stayed in the darkness with little fresh air, convinced they were really holy now! So Maharishi finally comes to see how we are doing. Einar proudly tells Maharishi about how his room is closed completely up and very cavelike. Maharish gets this questioning look on his face and asks Einar to explaiin. Einar tells him the story about how he'd heard about the previous course being told to close up the rooms like a cave, etc. Maharishi, without missing a beat tells him that the reason he told the previous course to do that was because it was winter and with the windows open it was causing all the heat to go out and costing a fortune to heat the place.
