We store our attachments and aversions in our subtle nervous system, when we approach something that represents one or the other of them to us we enliven those samsaras and they arise. Fine feeling ones like for altruism are easy to bring forth and project onto others. Such feeling of altruism to ourselves are more difficult because we have always been trained to dance to another's tune. When we finally start uncovering our own samsaras we see both the positive feeling ones and the negative feeling ones with nothing to project them upon. That's very difficult to figure out.

The more clearing the more strong the feelings. The only key is to acknowledge them and let them go. One should not run out and act upon them. This could be called stress release, and yet, it's easier to understand than stress release because these aren't really stresses but the basic habitual tendencies of the mind (vrittis) that have been carrying on for all our existances so far.

Beating them is very very difficult. Yes, it's great to have some guru knock on your head and tell you you're one of the best Americans to walk the earth and collate your group into some divine form of insiders and magnetize you again against your negative vrittis.

Running fast once again you get the runners high. But they will catch up with you eventually and then you'll be fucked if you haven't learned to accept them and release. Imagine being surrounded by packs of baboons and hyenas. These are your vrittis.  They aren't polite.

Have you ever had the experience of experiencing Unity towards
another human being, and yet other times feeling alienated towards
an aspect of your personality? What is going on in the brain then I
wonder?
