Here's the other side of the story, and then
I'll go back to lurking.

Actually, *Barry* has suggested this. Others
have suggested it's the other way round.

As alt.m.t readers know, Barry has sworn off
interacting with me literally dozens of times.
Usually lasts about a week. We'll see whether
he really means it this time.

Barry means, I continue--and will continue there--
to comment on his posts to correct inaccuracies,
distortions, illogic, and outright falsehoods, and
to point out his hypocrisy, as I did with the bit
of his post here I copied there. Whether he
responds is immaterial.

Barry fails to mention that he *urged* alt.m.t
participants to follow him here.

I subscribed to Fairfield Life a couple of
years ago and lurk occasionally to see what's
going on. Last night was the first time I
posted, to correct the misimpressions Barry
and Vaj were trying to create about what was
being said about Fairfield Life on alt.m.t.

When Barry told us we should all have a look
at Fairfield Life, I followed his suggestion,
thinking it would be interesting to see what
participants were saying about the latest TMO
madness. And it is interesting.

Also interesting was the discovery that Barry
and a few others had been trashing alt.m.t; and
me specifically, behind my back, as it were.
It was gratifying that some of the participants
thought the trashing was neither kosher nor
accurate, and I didn't think any comment from
me was necessary.

On alt.m.t, learning that I had seen what he
had posted on FL about me, Barry threatened to
retaliate by accusing me of being a cyberstalker
if I dared to speak up here.

I replied to Barry that I had no intention of
posting to FL unless he continued to trash me
or other alt.m.t participants, but that if he
did, and nobody else spoke up, I would do so.

He has, and I have.

Indeed. Probably better to get the facts
first, however.

Anyone who's interested can verify what I said
above by reading the alt.m.t threads headed "Yet
another opinion," "Buh-bye," and "Barry on
Fairfield Life."

Just for the record, plenty of interesting
and cordial discussions take place on alt.m.t.
We also have our share of hostile debates and
flames. It's a very different type of group
from Fairfield Life, in both positive and
negative respects; in some ways it's quite similar.
But like any group that's been around a while,
it's hard to get a feel for it without reading
a significant hunk of the traffic over time.

I've said my piece. As Barry suggests, folks
here can make up their own minds now that
they've heard both sides.
