Quotes/Shankaracharya%20Tradition/jmv514.txt

5.1.4 "The two terms ("paramahamsa" and "yogin") are used together in
order to exclude someone who is only a yogin and someone who is a
paramahamsa. Someone who is only a yogin is a person who, because of
his lack of the knowledge of transcendental truth, is *attached* to
amazing feats of yogic power, such as knowing the past, present, and
future, yogic flying, etc., and has made *efforts* toward this or that
(feat) with the various samyama formulae. Consequently he becomes
separated from Cosmic Consciousness."

-Shankaracharya Vidyaranya in "Knowledge of Cosmic Consciousness"
(jivanmuktiviveka 5.1.4)

Attachment to the Siddhis is not encouraged, nor is effort being used.
The Siddhis - if they occure, are seen as a side-effect, and function
only in conjunction with pure awareness. No CC gets lost therefore.
Steve, next time around, wrap the text first before you upload it.
