May 21 - History of the Drikung Kagyu Treasure Teachings - 10-1 pm

The Stages of the Path: Practicing Dzogchen in the Drikung Kagyu Tradition - 3-6 pm

The Drikung Kagyu Lineage includes a number of important Dzogchen Treasure Teachings. The major Drikung Treasure revealers include Rinchen Phuntsok, Rigzin Chokyi Dragpa, Urgyen Nuden Dorje, and Osel Dorje. These teachings will give a context to understand the importance of these teachings and treasure revealers to the Drikung Kagyu Lineage as well as an understanding of how they were traditionally practiced. Many in the West have expressed great interest in practicing these teachings. Traditionally, Drikung practitioners of the Dzogchen Treasure teachings also practiced the Five Fold Mahamudra. In the West, though practitioners might like to practice both these systems, they do not have the conditions necessary to practice these teachings as they were done traditionally. One question being asked in these teachings is how the Dzogchen Treasure Teachings of the Drikung Kagyu can be most successfully practiced given the practice conditions most of us face here in the West.

Time will be set aside for questions and answers.

May 22 - Dechen Nyingpo Heart of Great Bliss Empowerment and Teachings - 10-1 pm and 3 to 6 pm

Urgyen Nuden Dorje is one of the great treasure revealers of the Drikung Kagyu. One of his most important treasure revelations  was the Dechen Nyingpo or Heart of Great Bliss. This is one of the most widely practiced treasures of Urgyen Nuden Dorje. Yearly Drubchen Practice Retreats are done on this practice in a number of Drikung Kagyu Monasteries. H.E. Garchen Rinpoche has encouraged practitioners to receive this practice from H.E. Bongtul Rinpoche, who has great understanding and accomplishment of this practice. We hope these teachings from H.E. Bongtul Rinpoche at the DDCV will plant a seed for a Dechen Nyingpo Drubchen that could take place regularly in Vermont.

The Wish Fulfilling Jewel Treasure Teaching of Rinchen Phuntsok: History and Background - 10-1 pm

The Wish Fulfilling Jewel Guru Yoga  - 7-9 pm

The great Treasure revealer Rinchen Phuntsok revealed a number of important treasure cycles. The first cycle he revealed when he was 13. It is called the Yid Zhin Nor Chog and is contained in the Rinchen Terzod. He received this treasure cycle as a pure vision directly from the Great Mother White Tara. This cycle contains a number of very important practices, the first of which being a profound Guru Yoga Practice. In the first session Rinpoche will teach on the history and importance of this treasure cycle and in the second session he will bestow the Guru Yoga practice. To receive this profound practice on the Great Wheel Turning Day commemorating the enlightenment of the Buddha will be a most auspicious blessing.

May 24 - Yangzab Padmasattva Transmission and Teachings - 10-1 pm

"Because of the evil activities of the beings of this degenerate age, although there is a large amount of Dharma teaching, there is little accomplishment. Study and reflection on the Dharma is just so much idle chatter, and people waste their lives without practice. At such a time, the Essential Oral Instruction of Padmasambhava purifies obscurations, perfects the two accumulations, realizes the enlightened activities and brings attainment of twofold accomplishment." These are the words of Guru Rinpoche, directly from the Padmasattva terma, a Yangzab Treasure revealed by Rinchen Phuntsok. H.E. Bongtul Rinpoche suggested that it would be beneficial to give to this practice here in Vermont. In this practice Guru Rinpoche appears in the form of Vajrasattva, a profound and swift method of purification.
