I'm sure it is/was a difficult situation for them. You are a serious research scientist, but you're burdened either consciously or unconsciously with the a prior assumption that TM is the "best thing" for any situation or problem. The implicit agenda becomes supporting this "best thing" party line rather than pursuing where the data leads. I posted some time ago about this. A friend of mine was in the MIU neuroscience doctoral program when a Governor researcher presented a pilot study indicating that systematic muscle relaxation was more effective in the treatment of migraines than TM was. He said the entire class was aghast at this result: questioning the methodology, his motives, etc., etc.. It really is quite silly to assume that TM can solve all physiological, medical, social, spiritual and financial problems. But this is the the implicit belief that most of us were suckled on. It's just pure silliness and demonstrative of cultish thinking that the human psyche is so capable of falling into. I see human beings as collectively quite ill. Profoundly neurotic at best. > > -- > > > > > To subscribe, send a message to: > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Or go to: > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/ > and click 'Join This Group!' > Yahoo!
