I've come to think that raising the fees was just the first step in moving the base of the TMO from West to East. Raise the fees, teachers stop teaching, centers close, meditators leave, fundraising and hare brained schemes start to milk the last of the good will, teachers are all discarded, property sold all the money moves eastward. Rather than just saying and doing the move, it destroys any structure left, and gets the last remaining cash out too. All the while leaving the appearance that something new is being done.
