Sure, they would have stayed in California, but the prospect of 
picking up an entire ready-to-go 140(?) acre college campus for a 
couple mil could not be passed up. MIU was operating out of a tiny 
apt bldg in Santa Barbara at the time, and it would have cost maybe a 
hundred or two hundred million to duplicate the Fairfield campus in 
California (somehow people seem to prefer Cal over Siberia).
