Irmeli, May I suggest a look at http://www.brucelipton.com and his book BIOLOGY OF BELIEF : Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter and Miracles. He writes about some very interesting corelations to your experience and a new way to think about genetically inherited diseases. I heard him on a weekend Art Bell show and was excited by his discoveries - He knows about the non-locality of identity and consciousness. He uses this info to point out our misunderstanding of genetic determinism.
