Excommunication is such a joke: to Jesus that is... Who would Jesus excommunicate? No one! The Church is not Jesus, and Jesus is not the church. The Church is part and parcel of the Roman Empire. It's icons, symbols, statues, subjugation of women, persecution of the Jews, the disrespect of other religions (not to mention the death and destruction the church has caused, since it's origin) The child molestation, perversion of the priests, all make the Church a very dangerous, ilrelevant and ignorant entity. Not so Babaji. Jesus clearly says in the Book of Revelation that He will reject many that claim to be his in the final judgment. He also says that it is better to either be *hot or cold* for him because if you are just luke warm , "I will spew you out!" That is the ultimate excommunication. The Church is the collection of devotees or as M would put it , the collective consciousness, not the dogma, doctrine or buildings of *religion*. Jesus was very anti *religion* because the temple priests were more wrapped up in the technicalities of the Law than in the Spirit of the Law. He referred to them as brooder vipers and whited sepulchers, all clean and white on the outside and nothing but dead men's bones and corruption on the inside. He told them that they stood in the door way to the kingdom of heaven and did not go in, nor did they allow others to enter.< The sins of the Church you gleefully point out are not based on the teachings of Christ and the apostles but rather on culture, politics and downright sickness and wickedness. It has been my observation in recent years that the church has been going through a period of reflection, self examination and repentance. One of the key teachings of Jesus was forgiving, letting go and not holding on. Kind of like what we do with our mantras! There are always going to be those that can't let go and will not let go and remind others of their failings but they will have to deal with the issue of *forgiving others as the Almighty would forgive them*. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
