If Luipa was born in the eighth century then he cannot be identified with Matsyendranath because Luipa was probably born after Saraha. Both of the purported sources claim that Luipa was born either in Sri Lanka or Oddiyana, both Buddhist countries at the time. According to Keith Dowman, Luipa has no Hindu associations.
