Never heard that one, but someone could do a timeline. If he was born in
1917 and spent 13 years with Guru Dev, who died in 1953, he must have joined
him in 1940 when he would have been 23. As the "headlight" story goes, he
met him on the veranda before that, but was told to finish college.
Maharishi said that when he first met Guru Dev, he wasn't Shankaracharya,
but had become Shankaracharya by the time Maharishi joined his ashram. It
must be a matter of public record when he became Shankaracharya, so that
would help to fill out the timeline. Allahabad University must also have
records of Maharishi's academic career there. Maybe someone could dig up a
yearbook for the class of 1939 or 1940.
