Barry, I'm sure you are aware of what MMY wrote in his commentary to the Gita. He said that the Buddha's ideas have been misinterpreted by his disciples through the passage of time. Specifically, MMY said that Buddha's ideas are similar to what Shankaracharya stated, i.e. the concept of Being. These are fully discussed in MMY's commentary to the Gita.
