People polarize the Beatles/Maharishi thing into a seeker quest, but
the Beatles I found were ever fully enlightened in their music and
lyrics. Even from the start they sang songs of fulfillment. They were
just full. There was an outpouring of love and good humour. A few
times, sadness. They weren't songs of yearning so much.

Apparently, before John left the ashram he smashed a framed photo of
MMY, the feelings were quite intense. They had made a substantial
committment to MMY. As John then wrote 'you made a fool out of
everyone'. That day, leaving Rishikesh was a major historical moment,
not limited to MMY's disappointment or John Lennon's pissed-off-ness.
Like I said 'The breakup of The Beatles was a great loss to the world'
>From that day that Lennon had the run in with the man in the straw
hut everything went pearshaped for them. Their relationships sprung
apart, their business ventures floundered, their finances dived and
the bickering set in. Mostly they recorded the 'White album' as
though each one was a solo artist and that followed through to the
end.
Yes, they all continued to make good sounds but... oh fuck, you won't
understand (to coin a phrase from one of your recent postings).
