There's issues beyond just being part of the Evil Empire... The G4/G5 processor's 128-bit vectorprocessor is what made the PowerMac G4 a "supercomputer." The equivalent on the Intel side isn't nearly as good. The G5 is a 64-bit system that has only 2 more years to live. How many products are going to comeout to take advantage of capabilities that are going away in 2 years? The cross-platform compiler for MacOS that was just announced doesn't support 64-bitness, so obviously Apple isn't expecting anyone to want this, even though it was used as a selling point for the G5 MacPS workstations for the past year: we'll be supporting 64-bitness on the G5 Real Soon Now, so your computer will just get better and better -- only makes sense for 3rd parties to support a new feature when it will continue to be supported by the company that makes the product, which is no longer the case.
