"The Hindu Forum is spearheading a campaign seeking a worldwide Hindu
boycott of all things French, including Air France flights, Mirage jets
and a veto of Paris as the 2012 Olympics venue. Though French Fries are
not yet on the boycott list, vocal British Hindus said it was time the
French government realised that Hinduism predates Christianity by 5,000
years and it is unacceptable to ostracise it.

At present, said Kallidai, all Catholic organisations in France enjoy
a "100 per cent tax-exempt status for religious donations. Just 50 of
an estimated 1000 Protestant organisations are tax-exempt. Two Muslim
organisations are similarly recognised and several Jewish synagogues.
But Hindu organisations are not."
