That, coupled with the fact that most TM teachers revered and respected him, probably made M nervous. M had already experienced charismatic movement leaders leaving and taking a flock of teachers with them. Maharishi had him round for a year or two then sent him out to "the field," from whence he never returned. But that's just my take on it. I never talked with him about it.
