...or planning a pre-war strategy. Just after 9/11/01 I came up with what I thought was a workable solution to extricate ourselves (usa) from the mess we have helped create in the Middle East. Remember the committment made in the 60's to land a man on the moon? Remember the billions spent, the dedication, the coherent national consciousness around the idea, eventually leading to fruition? I proposed the same thing regarding solar power. Make it a national priority. Even put the oil companies in charge of making the technology to help them maintain profits (only set solar goals for them that they must meet...). Put 30% of the houses in the usa on solar power, or whatever the % is that makes sense. This eliminates our need to control the Mideast. Relatively simple, and certainly no more expensive than the 400 billion per year spent on Iraq. Also, when things began to get ugly in Irag and the usa decided it really wanted a fight, if instead the usa had wanted to work out a diplomatic solution, it could've. Sanctions work if we want them to. Look at Cuba. Of course part of the reason to get at Iraq was the oil, a problem that could've been solved by the previous suggestion, solar energy. So there was no need for war. Now we have Iraq splintering into sectarian violence, just as we'd planned. Its a heck of a lot easier to control a weak and splintered democracy than an anti usa dictator. Shows the short-sighted, ego-bound leadership in the usa. Keep that transcendence coming folks!!
