Duh. Guru Dev was a sanyasin, right? They take strict vows with regard to women. I happen to believe personally that such vows are sexist as hell and stupid and demeaning and the opposite of an enlightened view of humanity, but I respect the sanyasin's right to honor them. The parallel you are attempting to make is not apt. It was a hotel corridor. There were 8 or 9 people, both men and women, with Maharishi, waiting to leave to go to a meeting. He wouldn't leave the room until that woman (the maid) was removed from the corridor. > Perhaps MMY has his own reasons for just leaving. But it is > you that think it bothered him, your fantasy, your speculation > fed by rumours from sources you do not know. I was there. I was the "door guy" that day. I was the one who had to ask the maid to leave. I think that, to spare her feelings, I shrugged and said something like, "Celebrities...what can you do?" She laughed; she worked for the Beverly Wilshire...she'd seen it all. Imagine how she would have felt if I had told her what had been told to me, that Maharishi had refused to enter the hotel corridor as long as she was there.
