It wasn't just TM, but we were extremely popular at that time. Any and all Hindu-organizations were in the eye of the Carter Administration, from what I have heard. The Carters are very nice people, but they ARE fundamentalists. Booze was banned in the White House during the Carter Administration, and the wine cellar was cleared out.
