One thing to keep in mind is that MMY named the Swami Vasudevananda lineage as the custodians of the Brahmananda Saraswati Trust, which makes it, almost certainly, the most financially powerful Shankaracharya lineage in India by a huge margin. Money talks in INdia as much as it does anywhere, so I would expect that lineage to become increasingly influential and rspected as time goes on. Note to those who claim that MMY's nephews are thieves: regardless of the truth or falsehood of the claim, it is obviously in their own best interests to keep their own Shankaracharya influential, so I would expect all the buildings to be built and all the students to be trained, even if they are stealing some huge portion of the money set aside for that purpose.
