Again CC understood in the context of waking state creates all sorts of ontological problems because in waking state consciousness is confounded with "I". So when you talk about "I" disappearing everyone thinks that consciousness blinks out. It most assuredly does not. "I" is a very, very subtle mind/body thought that has no more substantiality than any other thought. "I" is a falsehood created through the identification/projection of consciousness in body/mind. That I" people walk around with in waking state DOES NOT EXIST. It is a profound delusion. It has no more reality than the thought that you are a big chicken or a flounder.
