I think I remember from the checking notes a thing about not meditating with pets in the room? That of course seems just common sense: avoid an obvious source of disturbance. But I've sometimes wondered whether there was supposed to be something a bit more to this? Perhaps something related to what you are saying here? When Maharishi told us that, he emphasized the energy draining more than the possible disturbance.
