Robin Carlsen's guide to his mechanics of consciousness and those of the Mahrishi Mahesh, Yogi.

GLOSSARY

ABSOLUTE ‑ the fundamental substratum of all existence, Being, pure consciousness, the source of all life, the "home of all the laws of Nature". Meditation is to contact this field of non‑change and stabilize It in one's awareness until the point of Enlighten ment, when one's Self is known to be the Absolute.

ABSOLUTE BODY ‑ evolutionary possibility held out by Maharishi to all human beings, the transformation of the gross physical body into particles of light, into the substance of immortality: Being. Enlightenment is the realization of the Self, the establishment of unbounded awareness, the merging of the ego into the unmanifest. However the karma of the body means the outer sheath that encloses consciousness is still relative, i.e., subject to time and space, a phenomenal form. Once pure consciousness is an all‑time reality, rapid purifi cation begins to take place on the level of the physiology (evolution being invincible, the body becomes the only aspect of the individual not vibrating on the level of pure Being) particularly if the enlightened individual continues to meditate. Maharishi has compared this process of physical metamorphosis to the substitution of a body made of glass for one made of clay. Knowing that such a possibility exists the enlightened individual will continue the spiritual practice that first brought him to Enlightenment. Obtaining an Absolute Body is the ultimate perfection of human evolution.

ASPECTING ‑ the act of expressing only one side of oneself, and thus ignoring the totality of what one is, in order to deal most effectively with an individual whose problem demands that 'aspecting'. Usually aspecting refers to the Enlightened individual whose dharma is to take a form of personality which maximizes the evolution of another individual. This 'aspecting' is done automatically by Nature; the Enlightened individual is played a specific way to bring about a particular effect with the personal environment. Not all enlightened individuals are 'aspected' since they usually act in a completely cosmic manner, ignoring the intricate play of The Personal.

COMPENSATION ‑ the act of assuming a certain quality of behaviour or mode in order to balance an opposite form of behaviour within another individual. It is a sort of compromise of the integrity of one's personality but a necessary one in order to draw out the most evolutionary effect in a given interpersonal situation.

CONFRONTATION - the act of opposing the demonic within another individual. In its purest form it is the clashing of Creative Intelligence with anti‑creative intelli gence (discussed in detail in the letter Cosmic Personal).

CREATIVE INTELLIGENCE ‑ the Intelligence which upholds evolution, guides the destiny of all life, and moves matter towards perfection culminating in Enlightenment.

DEMON/DEMONIC ‑ the entities within all of us that act to perpetuate our separateness from God, that reinforce the sense of duality, that oppose the force of evolution, particularly within The Personal. Someone who is 'demonic' is at that time under the influence of anti‑creative intelligence and not his or her own pure nature.

DHARMA - duty that is supported by Nature; i.e., an activity that accords with the laws of Nature and represents the specific form of work that has been divinely ordained for an individual. Dharma can only be perfect after Enlightenment since before that time an individual and universal intelligence are not yet merged.

DIVINE - the quality which is innocent and unconditioned within one; the essence of what we really are, both in a personal and impersonal sense. A divine impulse is opposite to a demonic one and commands the whole support of Nature.

ENLIGHTENMENT - the state of human life in which one experiences the 'I' to be unmanifest, the ego to be the perfect individuation of the cosmic ego. It is an unbroken continuum of pure consciousness, love and fulfillment; a point at which one realizes the true identity of one's Self as being the Absolute, the relative sense of oneself as the expression of the Personal God (the finest fluctuation of the Absolute). Yet within this state of freedom and bliss one still retains the memory of an individuality that preceded that final illumination and thus one can appreciate the profound Grace and Love which has made such a miracle.
