enough educated people in all of these countries that would love to see such a
thing happen but have been afraid to vocalize it. They need to know that they
will be supported by the other democracies of the world if they make that move.
I certainly don't expect to see the whole region changed in my life time, but
then I never expected to see the fall of the Soviet Union either. There
certainly have been stirrings in numerous countries in that region since
Afghanistan and Iraq are now going through the process of becoming
democracies. Everybody is watching them and thinking Hmmmmm, if they can do it ,
why can't we?
